Global Sport Forum Barcelona 2011





From 9 to 11 March, the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya will host once again the Global Sport Forum Barcelona 2011, organized by Havas Sports & Entertainment. Leading personalities from the world of sport as athletes, politicians, sponsors and benefit organisations will be there to debate on the role of sport in society.

For its 3rd edition, the event will be focused on the topic “Sport, What’s Next?” , with the objective of identifying the last trends so that the key players can adapt themselves to the future economic and social model.

To unable participants to exchange their ideas about different topics, many talks, conferences and workshops will take place. Here is the program:
- Official opening on Thursday 10th at 9 am with Sergei Bubka, the six-time world champion in pole vault;
- Women who make the difference in sports, with Donna De Varona, Pernilla Wiberg, Mia Hamm, Samantha Davies;
- CSR and sport as a vehicle for inclusion, with the presence of the former Brazilian soccer player, Raï;
- New models for new frontiers: matching traditional sporting values to new market opportunities;
- Fight for your rights: TV versus Web;
- Setting new standards for the Olympic Games in Rio, with personalities of the Olympic world, as Hicham El Guerrouj;
- Digitally-savvy champions: when athletes become media of their own;
- Barcelona 2013 swimming world championship;
- Rugby’s success story from 2011 to 2016 and its growing internalisation;
- Technological revolution in sport which has led to the emergence of global brands, with as a speaker, the new manager of FC Barcelona, Sandro Rosell.

The Congress will end with the presentation of some memorable advertising campaigns in the world of sport.

20th European athetics Championship in BARCELONA




Yesterday, July 26th, was held in Barcelona, the inauguration of the 20th European Championships of athletism. The championship which really started today until next sunday takes place at the same location as the 1992 Olympics Games.

Visitors saw a water show of dance and acrobatics in the Magic Fountain of Montjuic with the under a beautitiful full moon in the Olympic Stadium.
During 70 minutes, a spectacle staged by Hansel Cereza, a founding member of "La Fura dels Baus, the group that designed the Olympic ceremonies, entertained thousands of spectators and reached a moment of great beauty.

The water was the main reason for the ceremony. The director mixed it with dance and sports with music by Nacho Cano, former member of Mecano, and Salvador Niebla, author of the music used in the Spanish synchronized swimming team.















Then we could see a parade ofrepresentatives of the 50 countries participating in the championship, with sounds of the anthem of Europe. Chema Martinez, candidate for the Marathon medal, was the flagship of a Spanish team of 88 athletes.
The Organizing Committee Chairman, José María Odriozola, said that chamionnats held in Barcelona is a good opportunity for the Catalans to enjoy the beauty of the sport in the Montjuic stadium or on the street.


President Montilla closed the ceremony, announced opened oficially the european championships. On sunday the championship will end with a concert of the famous group of Catalan rumba, Troba Kung Fu, in the Avenida Maria Cristina.

The 57 Conde de Godo Tournament will be played at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona from 16 to April 26 with the participation of major players such as world No. 1 Rafael Nadal

With three victories in the tournament Nadal is followed by Roy Emerson (1961, 1963 and 1964), Manolo Orantes (1969, 1971 and 1976) and Mats Wilander (1983, 1984 and 1985).
